Buda, Texas
Buda is a rapidly growing Austin suburb in Hays County with a population that increased from fewer than 7,300 residents in 2010 to more than 15,000 in 2020. From Buda, downtown Austin is 15 miles to the southwest, and San Antonio is 65 miles to the northeast. Although basically a commuter town, Buda’s sales tax revenue is boosted by businesses that line the I-35 corridor, and civic leaders express hope that additional revitalization of the downtown district will attract more shoppers and tourists. Thus, the need for pavement-related services has increased in recent years. JSC Asphalt Care stands ready to help Budans with their parking lot striping, asphalt paving, parking lot signs, asphalt repair, speed bump installation, parking lot maintenance, power washing, and asphalt sealcoating needs.
What Is the History of Buda, Texas?
During the 1880s, various railroads expanded their routes in Central Texas, which led to the founding of numerous towns. Buda, which was originally named Du Pre, was founded in 1881 when the International-Great Northern Railroad extended its line from Austin to San Antonio. The railroad built a depot that would play an instrumental part in the town’s economy and growth for several decades. Postal officials discovered that there was already a town named Du Pre in Texas, so residents had to choose a new name for their town, settling on Buda in 1887. Buda was not incorporated until 1948. In 1950, the population was just 483, and it remained virtually stagnant throughout the following decades. In 1990, Buda had almost 1,800 residents, its highest population since its founding. By 2000, the population grew to slightly more than 2,400 people, then expanded rapidly. In 2021, the population of Buda was estimated to be more than 15,600 people.
